Simon joined the charity in August 2015 on a freelance basis, and joined the team permanently in May 2022.

He spent 28 years in the Army, where he spent 19 years as an Army Air Corps pilot and worked as the programme manager for buying and bringing into service the new E-model Apache attack helicopter.

He received an MBE for outstanding leadership in Command of his Army Air Corps Squadron during an Afghanistan tour and a tour in support of the London 2012 Olympic Games where they provided dynamic air security.
