Wiltshire Air Ambulance is an essential service that provides helicopter emergency medical assistance across Wiltshire, Bath, and the surrounding areas.
Operating 19 hours a day, 365 days a year, it has a dedicated team comprising one helicopter and two critical care cars. In the first six months of 2023, the charity has responded to 543 missions, averaging three incidents every day.
It faces the ongoing challenge of raising £4 million each year to sustain their lifesaving operations. With no regular direct Government funding or National Lottery grants, the charity relies on the generosity of the public and local businesses to fulfil its crucial missions.
Recognising the financial hardships faced by many individuals and organisations during the current cost-of-living crisis, Wiltshire Air Ambulance has encountered similar, significant challenges - escalating fuel costs, which have doubled over the past 12 months, and rising energy bills at their airbase have placed additional strain on their resources.
Commenting Naomi Barker, corporate partnerships lead at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s generous £1,500 donation exemplifies their commitment to the local community and recognises the invaluable services we provide across Wiltshire and Bath. Their support will undoubtedly make a significant impact on our ability to continue with our lifesaving work in the region.”
Louise Ware, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “It’s a pleasure to donate money to Wiltshire Air Ambulance – the charity is so reliant on community contributions to sustain their operations and continue with their vital role as part of the region's emergency medical services.
“At Barratt David Wilson Homes South West we strive to give valuable support to the communities where we build, and so we are thrilled to be able to contribute towards a team that goes above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their local community. On behalf of everyone at Barratt Developments, I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Wiltshire Air Ambulance for all that you do.”
