The Marlborough-based company assessed the entire site – which opened in May 2018 – and carried out all installation works free of charge to ensure all systems benefit from softened water.

The solution covers all taps at the airbase, as well as the heating systems and hot water cylinder.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance head of facilities and security Kevin Reed said: “After more than a year of occupancy, we were concerned that, given we are situated in a hard water area, we would be suffering from scale build up.

“Over time this would have a knock-on effect that could lead to issues and therefore additional costs to the charity.

“We engaged with Soft Options Water Softeners, who provided a full site assessment, followed by a detailed recommendation.

“Soft Options Water Softeners have donated the equipment and carried out all of the work free of charge, which is tremendous for us as a charity and we can’t thank them enough.”

Soft Options Water Softeners have also retained two hard water outlets at the airbase for the charity, as well as providing remote monitoring for the maintenance team.

Alison Cook, director of Soft Options Water Softeners, said: “We are happy to be able to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance in supplying and fitting their water softener equipment.

“The new equipment is so important because it will take care of the pipes in the building and save any long-term damage and therefore unnecessary cost to the charity.

“As a small family business we continue to look for ways of supporting local charities as we feel it is important to give back to the local community.”

Soft Options Water Softeners also provide sponsorship of the charity’s two mascots, paramedic bear Wilber and pilot bear Marsha, who attend fundraising events across the county.
