The fantastic total comes from the huge amount of coffee pods, crisp packets and baby food pouches amongst other items that have been recycled across the county in the past six months.
Recycle for Wiltshire Air Ambulance was originally launched as a Facebook page in 2014 by Lesa Snook and Sam Peters, initially as a small scale scheme.
What started amongst family and friends, just recycling Tassimo and L’OR coffee pods plus baby food pouches, soon grew.
Multiple programmes were soon added, including the popular crisp packet scheme, along with pet food pouches and oral care recycling.
Sam and Lesa recruited volunteers across Wiltshire to act as drop off points – now totalling over 70 up and down the county – and co-ordinated the scheme, as well as both being mums with full-time jobs.
Sam says: “The support shown by everyone is simply overwhelming, with so many new schemes and more people joining us we are on track to raise £2,000 a month. That’s amazing considering it would take around a year in the early days to raise that amount.
“We cannot thank everyone enough for their continued support.”
The recycling scheme not only raises vital funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s lifesaving service, it also helps the environment.

So how can the people of Wiltshire help further?
Lesa commented: “We still have areas around the county which need a local drop off point as well as volunteers who might be able to spare an hour once a week to help with the sorting and packing at our various sites. We would love to hear from anyone who might be able to help us.”
Wiltshire Air Ambulance community relations assistant Hollie Perryman said: “The Recycle for Wiltshire Air Ambulance initiative has gone from strength to strength.
“They now have people from all over Wiltshire getting involved, including lots of schools and businesses, all collecting used crisp packets, coffee pods and pet products with the aim of generating valuable funds for the charity.
“The work Lesa, Sam and all the volunteers put into the project is immense and, of equal importance, it helps the environment as well. We can’t thank them enough.”
