The target of £12,000 – which is doubled to £24,000 – has been reached to enable us to buy improved manikins for our paramedics to use for training.
The manikins that we want to buy are called SIMBODIES® and are extremely realistic. They have the look and feel of real skin and are weighted accurately, with natural range of motion in the joints and limbs.
Our new airbase at Semington boasts an immersive simulation room where our paramedics can train using different scenarios and the SIMBODIES® are true to life manikins which will complement the invasive and complex procedures, such as airway management, that our paramedics carry out.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge money will help us purchase three manikins (baby, toddler and adult sizes), as well as a trauma moulage starter kit. The kit includes specialist sleeves that can be placed on the manikins to create lifelike injuries such as wounds, burns and fractures.
We placed on record our thanks to Big Give charity champion Candis, who provided £6,000, plus Mitsubishi Motors in the UK (£2,000), Bechtle Direct Ltd in Chippenham (£1,000) and our private pledge donors.
To everyone that donated to enable us to complete the challenge, we thank you - we wouldn't have been able to do it without you!
