Late on Monday 6 December the total donations reached over £20,000 and, once doubled by our incredible match funders, it means we’ve secured the required funds to purchase four newer Night Vision Goggles (NVIS).
The Night Vision Goggles will be used by our aircrew when attending emergencies across Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas.
Our crew operate up to 19 hours a day, 365 days a year. With the winter nights now upon us, it means around 10.5 hours of each shift is spent in darkness.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance fundraising manager Des Regan says: “We’ve been absolutely taken aback by all the donations from the public and local businesses.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for their kind support and especially all of our match funders who have helped to ‘double your donation’ in this Big Give campaign.
“We’ll now be able to replace our existing NVIS, which are becoming old and obsolete, with newer generation sets for our pilots, critical care paramedics and doctors.”
Wiltshire Air Ambulance would like to thank our Big Give Champion funder, the Wiltshire Match Fund, along with a host of companies and individuals for pledging to help double our donations: BT Communications, Coleview Community Centre, Eric Vines, Excalibur Communications, Kingstons Estate Agents, Lowden Garden Centre, Medical Wire, Melksham Relics, Mia Regan, Office Evolution, PA To Go and Qinetiq.
