5th and 6th July 2008 - Calne's 19th Country
Music Festival |
A two day event on the
first weekend of July with live non stop country
music from 11:00 to 22:00 on Saturday and until 21:00
on Sunday. There are trade stalls and charity stalls
to browse around and treat yourself, food vendors
to feed yourselves and of course a licensed bar in the
marquee open till late for refreshments. We also
have a Western Show Team who put on three re-enactment
shows a day for you to watch and for the little ones
there's a bouncy castle. We have a small blanket sale
on Saturday and Sunday morning, a shootout in the marquee
on Saturday afternoon and a raffle which is held
on Sunday. We have camping on site of up to 250 units.
Every pound and penny profit we make goes to two charities
of our choice, this year it is Wiltshire Air Ambulance
and Calne Community Transport.

| 15th July 2008 - Ladies Evening |

On Tuesday 15th July 2008 at the Old Bank Brasserie in Old Town, Swindon a charity Ladies Evening is being held in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
The event, being held with support of Virgin Vie at Home, will be giving Ladies the opportunity to try free treatments and purchase Virgin Vie products. |

July 2008 - Horsewatch/Rural Security Awareness Day and Fete |
On the 19th July at The Lime Trees Equestrian Centre, Kington Langley there will be a Horsewatch and Rural Security Awareness day. This event is being organised by 3 main equestrian establishments in the area which are The Lime Tree, Kington Langley Stud and Priory Stud, Kington St Michael. All proceeds from the event are to go towards the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
Activities will run from 11am to 4pm and will include:
- Advise on all aspects of security in rural areas (Vehicles, Property, Tack, Machinery etc), with various organisations with which to discuss needs.
- BBQ, Stalls and Displays
- Saddle stamping and Second hand tack sales (Spaces for stalls can be booked in advance through Lime Trees Equestrian or just turning up)
- Various services will be present representing the Fire Brigade and Neighbourhood Police for Chippenham North and The Dog section.
In the evening there will be a hog roast and live music from 7.30pm to Midnight. Tickets for this can be purchased from the Hit or Miss Inn, Kington Langley, or from the Equestrian Centres involved or by contacting the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeals Office on 0845 122 1423.

July 2008 - The Porton Hotel, Family Fun Day |
The Porton Hotel in Porton Nr Salisbury is holding a family day with proceeds going towards the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal. There will be face painting for children (or adults!), a hog roast and live music throughout the day. The event will start at midday and continue till late.

Then pop into 2 Dorz Down on the High Street, Tisbury, from 12pm to 12am on Saturday 16th August, the task at hand will be attempting to cut as many heads of hair to help raise money for the Wiltshire Air ambulance Appeal, there is a minimum donation of £5.00, no appointment necessary. |

August 2008 - Charity Quiz Challenge - Calne Liberal Club |
Are you the best pub/club or works quiz team from the Wootton Bassett, Chippenham or Calne area? Are up for a challenge, if so then head to Calne Liberal Club on Sunday 17th August 2008 at 1pm.
All you need to participate in this Charity Quiz are a team of 5 and £15.00 entrance fee (that’s only the price of a pint!), £10.00 will be going to the cash prize for the winning teams and £5.00, will be donated to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal. The quiz will start at 1pm and will feature a range of questions ranging from TV and sport to geography and Music. August 2008 - The 4th Foxtrot "5" |
Once again the Foxtrot 5, in association with Avon Valley Runners, will take place on Sunday 24th August. The Foxtrot 5 is a 5 mile road/fun race that follows country lanes starting from the common in Broughton Gifford and finishing near the Village hall in Broughton Gifford.
The race is suitable for serious competitors, with course records to beat, and for those who wish to run/jog or walk to support the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal or the Dorothy House Hospice or just to get fit! The race starts at 11am and an awards ceremony at 12.45. The local public house the Fox, will be holding a BBQ and live music in there garden after the awards.

August 2008 - Grove House, Leigh Grove, Bradford on Avon - Cream Tea Afternoon |
On Sunday 31st August, a cream tea afternoon at Grove House, will be taking place from 2.30pm with proceeds going towards the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal. The afternoon organised by Mrs Helen Crapnell, is in memory of her Husband who was attended by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance back in 2002, sadly there was nothing that could be done to save his life, however in memory and to support the service Helen has been organising events for the Air Ambulance since then and has raised a fantastic amount.
Come and help her this year in making this a hugely successful afternoon and also enjoy a lovely cream tea with raffle, tombola and water demonstration by the local artist Steve Hall.

August 2008 - The Rodbourne Festival |
The Rodbourne Festival will this year take place on Sunday 31st August 2008 from 3-9pm and will be a celebration of the village from the past and present. At 3.00 the afternoon will start with cream teas, stalls, skittles and boules competition and Local Historical Exhibitions, from 4.30-5.30 there will be an organ recital in the local church.
The bar opens at 5.30pm and the skittles and boules final will take place. From 6-7pm there will illustrated talks in the church on Rodbourne’s Past (tickets £5.00 to include a glass of wine, limited numbers available).

September 2008 - Chippenham Half Marathon |

The Chippenham Harriers have organised another quality event for runners, the Chippenham Half Marathon. The predominantly flat course will start and end at the Chippenham Sports Club, located at Hardenhuish Park and will go through the centre of Chippenham and follow a scenic route through local hamlets and villages. The cost to participate is £15.00 affiliated and £17.00 unaffiliated; there is a minimum age of 17 for participants.
For those who participate there will be a Goody Bag and T-shirt memento and the opportunity to purchase photos of your day. Golf Club near Bradford on Avon will host our event
on 26th September 2008.
All players are welcome to arrive at 10:00 am for coffee,
bacon rolls sign in and introductions. Four balls will
tee off from the 1st and 10th tees between 11:32 am
and 1:00 pm.
A three course dinner will be served at 7 pm followed
by a prize giving presentation and short charity auction.

A Christmas Fair is being held at St Francis School, Marlborough Road, Pewsey on Tuesday 25th November 2008 from 10.30am to 4.00pm.
There will be over 40 stalls from the local region offering a wide range of Christmas presents suitable for all budgets and age ranges. There is a £2.00 entrance fee, proceeds will be donated to the St Francis School PTA and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal. So avoid the last minute stress of Christmas shopping and do it all on one day, under one roof and beat the crowds! |
