I
started being a volunteer with the Air Ambulance
Appeal back in 1998, I had retired from full
time work in 1993 & moved to live in Chippenham,
I continued to work part time with my company
and wanted to do some voluntary work also.
After
applying to be a volunteer after seeing an
advert in the local newspaper I was then able
to assist the Air Ambulance by travelling
around the county collecting collection tins.
I started off collecting around 1-2 tins per
month and now that I have been placing tins
around the county for 9 years I now collect
& replace on average 6 tins per week.
I
plan to increase my involvement; with the
Appeal; by setting up a database, my goal
is to place a tin in every pub in Wiltshire.
When
Mary started working for the Appeal in 2001
we have worked very closely together and we
have raised the profile of the Appeal collection
tins immensely.
“so
much for retirement………..”
